Guide to Chartering a Luxury Yacht for Vacations, Holidays and Events

The First Step

The charter process begins with the broker who will be your main point of contact throughout. With extensive knowledge and years of experience in the world of luxury yachts, our team of brokers will work closely with you to find out exactly what you hope for in your charter. Consider these key factors before getting in touch:

Who are you bringing? How many people are in your group and will there be any children?

Where do you want to go? Are you looking for tropical beaches in the Bahamas or the ever glamorous South of France?

What type of yacht do you want? Would you prefer the convenience of a motor yacht, the thrill of a sailing yacht, or the comfort of a luxury catamaran? Do you want the latest in design or a more classic type of yacht?

How much are you and your guests willing to spend? You may want to read our page on luxury yacht charter fees to understand all the costs that may be involved in chartering a luxury yacht.

When will you be wanting to charter? We recommend booking early, at least 6 months in advance to secure the best yacht for you.

What type of charter are you looking for? Is it a luxury holiday with friends, a business entertainment event, a family gathering, or a celebration?

Other Useful Information. Once you have booked, you will be asked to fill out a passenger list (with people's likes and dislikes, allergies, and any special needs), desired itinerary form and provisioning requests. Please fill these out and return as soon as you can as they are critical to your overall satisfaction. See a complete, step by step, description of the yacht charter process in our Process of Chartering a Super Yacht Guide.

Super Yachts normally use a MYBA (the Worldwide Yachting Association) charter agreement that is designed to standardise charter terms and protect the Charterer, the Owner, and the Agent/Broker. It has standard protections and escalation clauses in case any problems arise. We are happy to discuss with you the standard MYBA charter agreement terms in detail.
